I created Buy Something Awesome in the summer of 2005 after finishing my junior year of high school. I was always interested in making money (like everyone else of course), and always knew that I would someday run my own business. I became inspired when I overheard a classmate talking about how he and a friend bought a pallet of clothing on Ebay, and resold it. The idea of doing something similar intrigued me. I began selling various products on a few different internet forums until I needed a more stable place to display my products. The original version of the website was generously built by an internet acquaintance for free. Without a written business plan or any solid plan at all, I began selling products and advertising the website.

I began with a small line of products including airsoft guns, lighters, and knives. I also made a vow to myself that I would never sell something that I would not personally buy myself. I eventually expanded the product line, and today I sell over 400 different products, including my bestselling original t-shirts. Besides adding so many new products throughout the years, I also changed the website design so many times that I have lost track.

Throughout my few years of running this website, I have learned a great deal about what it takes to successfully operate a business from all ends. With over 1500 customers, I realize how important it is to be reliable, and answer all questions and process all orders in a timely manner. I am now a full time college student studying Anthropology and Communications while I operate this business from my dorm room.

I am pleased with how far Buy Something Awesome has come since its creation, and I hope that Buy Something Awesome will someday become my main job.
